The Story of Secret Sense Collection
Every place has a story. Some places carry not only the marks of time but also the traces of people. The land where Secret Sense Collection was born has been a quiet witness to a journey of nearly a century.
During the population exchange in 1926, this land belonged to the Greek-origin Filip family. They built not only a life here, but also a culture of production shaped by the fertility of the land. On these alluvial soils formed by the stream over centuries, they cultivated rice and established a traditional rice mill to separate the grain from its husk. Even after many decades, this mill still stands and remains operational, carrying the labor of the past into the present.
Their story was not limited to agriculture. They also transported goods between Sinop and Ankara with caravans of camels and used this estate as a natural resting point along the route. In that sense, this place became not only a center of production, but also a place of pause, gathering, and passage.
Another richness of the estate was its thousands of mulberry trees. According to local accounts, nearly one thousand mulberry trees once stood here and supported silkworm cultivation. This tradition of production, born under the shade of mulberry trees, continued for generations through the abundance of the land.
After the population exchange, the land was purchased from the Filip family by Bekir Bey, known among the people as Lungur Bekir, who was engaged in halva and confectionery production. Thus, the story of the land entered a new era with new custodians.
In 2012, Mr. Sefik Dizdar took over the estate from Ismet Saracoglu on behalf of Lungur Bekir, Rahmi Saracoglu, and the other stakeholders, taking an important step toward preserving and reviving this legacy. In 2025, this historical heritage gained a new identity through the shared vision of Sefik Dizdar and tourism investor Taner Aktas. Under the brand Secret Sense Collection, the site was transformed into a distinctive center for hospitality, lifestyle, and experience.
Today, the property welcomes its guests under two separate boutique concepts, Rum Evi and Beyaz Kosk, both gathered under the umbrella of Secret Sense Collection.
The name Secret Sense was not chosen by chance. It reflects the mysterious atmosphere of this place, the serenity offered by nature, the stillness within silence, and the ability of time spent here to reveal emotions that remain hidden within us.
